      Laptop Troubleshooting Tips

      For Speaker Issues-

      Troubleshooting:

      1. Muted or low volume: towards the bottom right click the volume icon. Then drag the volume bar all the way to the right (it usually makes a little chime sound after letting go of the mouse). If it doesn't chime, complete a help ticket, and then go ahead and try some of the other options below.

      2. Headphone jack: If you still have no audio, plug in some headphones and try those (you may have to turn up volume on those once plugged in.

      3. Enable Speakers: click the start (Windows) icon on the bottom left side of your screen.
      Type Control Panel
      Click Control Panel
Click 'Hardware and Sound' on the screen that pops up
      Click 'Sound'

There should be a set of speakers on the screen that shows a little green check box or a similar green icon, if so right click the speakers and click test. If the speakers all show to be 'Disabled' then right click on the speakers named something like 'Speakers/Headphones' and click 'Enable' -If no audio outputs, complete a help ticket and stop troubleshooting here, otherwise continue.

      4. Zoom: When you first connect to zoom if you see an option that says either 'Test Speaker and Microphone' or 'Test Computer Audio' click that. Then use the speaker area on zoom to test the various speakers, there should be a drop down box. If you have more then one speaker showing up test each one of them. If none of them, complete a help ticket.

      For Microphone Issues-

      Troubleshooting:

Click the start (Windows) icon on the bottom left side of your screen
      Type Control Panel
      Click Control Panel
Click 'Hardware and Sound' on the screen that pops up
      Click 'Sound'
      Click the 'Recording' tab
-If the microphone listed shows a little bar to the side of it make some noise and the bar shows green lines as you make noise, the microphone should be working, and zoom has an issue.
-If the microphone says 'Disabled' under it right click the microphone and click 'Enable'

      On Zoom:

When you first connect to zoom if you see an option that says either 'Test Speaker and Microphone' or 'Test Computer Audio' click that.
Try testing the microphone there and make sure a microphone is selected. It will most likely be named 'Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)'
